Welcome to Wearable Robotics. Soon we will not only have wearable computers, but also wearable robotics. For those new to the subject, a wearable robot is a person-oriented robot that is designed to be worn. Examples include exoskeletons that help people to walk or lift and robots that are designed to serve as front-end for wearable computers.
A wearable robot suit can be described as a mechatronic system that is designed around the shape and function of the human body, with segments and joints corresponding to those of the person it is externally coupled with. Of course, there can be “partial wearable robotics” such as pacemakers, robotic prosthetics like arms, legs, hands, fingers, etc.
